Affectionately known as the jewel of the south, Southampton offers fine shopping, history, culture entertainement and leisure. Not forgetting to mention some of the most breathtaking coast and countryside in the south of England.
Southampton - history & attractions
From the Saxons to the Titanic, history has left its mark on the city. With a large proportion of the old medieval town walls still intact you can follow the footsteps of the Pilgrim Fathers as they left for America, or Henry V on his way to Agincourt. You can follow the sad story of RMS Titanic on a trail around the city, taking in all the key memorials and landmarks and the full story is told in the Maritime Museum. The museum also illustrates Southampton’s affiliation with the sea and its development as an important port.
Southampton - leisure & shopping
Southampton is the home of ocean sailing and it is not surprising that Ocean Village is one of the UK’s biggest marina developments with its panoramic view over The Solent. Southampton offers so much for those who enjoy sailing and other water based activities.
