A year of fund-raising by golf club members has ended with the presentation of a £6,300 cheque to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).
The money was raised by members of Chedington Court Golf Club, which spans the Somerset-Dorset border to the east of Crewkerne.
All sections of the club agreed to support the Air Ambulance as a joint venture during 2009, and a variety of money-raising events were organised throughout the year.
The club captains each held a Captain’s Day and a drive in, while the ladies’ and the seniors opens held numerous raffles, quizzes, and fun golf competitions.
A sponsored 72-hole marathon was organised by lady member Donna Adey and a Burns Night Dinner was organised by senior member Gordon Hughes.
Club Captain Mike Bennett said he and Ladies Captain Chris Ritchie and Seniors Captain Rob Hampson were pleased with the support given from all sections of the club for what they saw as a very worthwhile Charity.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fund-raising co-ordinator Annette Plaistow-Trapaud said: “I was delighted to receive this cheque from Chedington Court Golf Club, which reflects an incredible amount of hard work put in by members to organise so many different fund-raising activities.”
