The 2010 Smith Family Charity Ball has deemed another great success with over 350 people attending and contributing to the highest ever amount raised for charity of £6,700.
The funds raised were split between the following charities: Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (£1500), Dorset Renal Unit, West Dorset Diabetics, Harefield Hospital & Hamsters Transplant Club, Brainwave, Cancer Research and Whitchurch Playgroup.
The Smith family would like to thank everyone who supported the ball, those who donated prizes for the raffle and all who helped make this event a success. (more…)

This event is being held at the Cutt Mill and starts at 10.30am on Sunday 30th May and then onto the Bull Tavern for presentation of prizes and BBQ. A Presentation of the fundraising cheques will be made on Thursday 17th June at 8.00pm at THE EXCHANGE.

Members of From Lions recently visited the airbase to donate a cheque for £2,000 to our crew members.
Unfortunately the aircraft was in Frome attending a mission, so many of the members were unfortunate not to deliver their donation in person.
The helicopter returned with only two members of the Lions remaining, which allowed us to give a short guided tour. Unfortunately however, the crew were quickly called to another life-saving mission. (more…)

People living in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, are set to learn about the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance later this year.
Awareness of the Charity will be brought to them by ‘How Far to Baatar’, a team of three young Bournemouth men taking part in the annual Mongol Rally.
James Beale, James Flynn, and Sebastian Farahnak decided that as well as raising money for Mongolian charities they also wanted to do something for a good cause closer to home. (more…)

The success of a Dorset brewery’s traditional ale has brought a £14,647 boost for the county’s Air Ambulance over the past two years.
Palmers Brewery, Bridport, has been putting aside 5p from the sale of every pint of its Palmers 200 ale for the life-saving charity.
Palmers 200 was brewed for the first time in March 1994 to celebrate 200 years of the firm’s brewing in Bridport. This popular premium ale has been winning plaudits ever since. Beer guru Roger Protz says: “It’s a finely balanced blend of malt, hops and quenching citric fruitiness.” (more…)
