A year of fund-raising by golf club members has ended with the presentation of a £6,300 cheque to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).
The money was raised by members of Chedington Court Golf Club, which spans the Somerset-Dorset border to the east of Crewkerne.
All sections of the club agreed to support the Air Ambulance as a joint venture during 2009, and a variety of money-raising events were organised throughout the year. (more…)

Employees from Thales UK’s Templecombe site have handed over a cheque for more than £1,500 to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance service. Templecombe’s Gerald Bradley, Chris Brown and Colin Shrimpton handed over the cheque to the air ambulance crew at Henstridge airfield in Somerset.
Annette Plaistow-Trapaud, fundraising coordinator for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance service, was also at Henstridge for the cheque presentation. She says: “We believe fundraising is about building relationships as well as raising crucial funds. We are a local charity and unlike many national charities rely on the support of the local people.”
She concluded: “We pride ourselves on being a charity that supports its ‘supporters’, and in doing so would like to thank all the people within Thales UK for not only raising the awareness of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, but also raising a superb amount of money.” (more…)

The Purbeck Village Quire (A Victorian Gallery Quire) are performing at St. Nicholas Church, Winterborne Kingston on Sunday 31st January 2010 at 6.00pm. Come along and listen to Victorian Purbeck and traditional carols. The Quire which consist of 20 singers and 10 instrumentalists dress up in Victorian costumes and make a glorious sound. The evening is in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and St. Nicholas Church.

THE countdown is on to one of the most successful fundraising events in the South-West in Taunton.
Hundreds of swimmers of all ages will be taking the plunge at the Taunton Soroptimists annual Swimathon at Taunton School pool on Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14.
They will swim in relay in teams of six to raise money for a variety of local charities.
Every participant will receive a medal for their efforts and there are also lots of trophies to be won. (more…)

Management and staff of the Sherborne Hotel in Dorset recently presented their latest fundraising cheque to the crew of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Max Hoskins (DSAA Pilot) and Annette Plaistow-Trapaud (fundraising coordinator) attended the cheque presentation on behalf of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and paid a special tribute to all the staff for their continued support.
The Sherborne Hotel has been a supporter of the Charity for many years and displays the charities merchandise and novelty items at the Hotel for visitors to purchase.
The £1,000 donation came from fundraising days, businessman’s lunches, and a Christmas draw with hotel guests.
Can we express our sincere thanks to the Hotel, and in particular to Jo Lock and Harry Lawes, for the enthusiasm and motivation they relentlessly show to the Charity. (more…)

In an update to news posted on 22 December 2009, we would like to send our congratulations and thanks to James Boot who raised nearly £500 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance by taking part in the West Bay Wallow on Boxing Day.
The West Bay Wallow event is a charity fancy dress swim off East Beach and takes place on Boxing Day.
As you can see by pictures taken on the day, James looked spectacular and spectators could not help notice, the cause he was supporting by the attire he was wearing.
James’ efforts were rewarded with 1st prize for the ‘BEST DRESSED MALE’, which he believes was down to the improvised propeller head that his sister made! (more…)

An Annual Vintage vehicle event (“Railway Rev Up”) has raised £2755.00 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The Railway Inn, Meare, Nr Glastonbury recently presented their cheque to Nick Pearce, Dorset and Somerset Air ambulance fundraising coordinator and confirmed their continued support for 2010.
With vintage engines of all shapes and sizes on show and a fantastic fun day out for the family, it’s a must for the general public to see.
